Oliveira is such a delightful character, unassuming but so clever, yes can even sell roller skates in the desert. This figure of him is taken from the adventure Land of Black Gold. He’s helping Tintin get into Professor Smith’s palace. And who better placed than Oliveira as the main supplier of goods to the rich and horrible Smith! Atchoo….
Beautifully sculpted with Oliveira in traditional Muslin dress, a Thawb and Taqiyah, a Muslin skullcap, Hergé the ever-meticulous observer. Take in his face, those eyebrows, and that moustache, we know well Hergé loved a good moustache and here he excels. And look at Oliveira’s feet, those soft comfortable shoes, you can imagine him gently tapping them as he reels out another endless story…and that basket…this really is a feast for the eyes…thank you Hergé for creating him.
